Watch Oz the Great and Powerful Online Movie The long awaited arrival of Oz the Great and Powerful came to our screens in March 2013, with an air of hope and expectation not only among fans of the classic The Wizard of Oz film, but also from younger generation and families.

Watch Oz the Great and Powerful Online Movie As a fan of the classic, I was excited and eager to see what the creators had in store for viewers with this prequel.

The film begins in an intriguing setting in which Oscar Diggs, also known as Oz, is working as a fraudulent magician at a fairground in Kanvas. With the quaint use of a black and white background for this introductory scene, along with the amusing demonstrations of Oscar’s deceiving skills (accompanied by Zach Braff) as a small-time magician, the film sets out to succeed.

These high hopes are unfortunately short-lived as the mood of the film completely changes from the intelligent scenes in the small town fair, to the arrival of Oscar in the Land of Oz.

Although visually stunning, the film is aimed at children from there on in, to the degree that some scenes are reminscent of television shows purposely directed at an audience of young children specifically.

Oscar’s aim on his arrival in Oz is to persuade the people living there that he is the great wizard they all were expecting. This proves harder than first planned, as his ‘magic’ is that of deception and lies.

Watch Oz the Great and Powerful Online Movie The three witches; Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams) who he encounters along his journey also question his credibility as the great wizard and it is up to Oscar to prove his worth, not only to them, but also to himself.
